Local government bodies here in the UK are being encouraged to make their data public as a matter of course.

This blog will aim to:

  • discuss how best to promote the notion of open data;
  • support those charged with delivering it;
  • debate constructively the opportunities, challenges and risks of publishing public data.

History

This blog was set up initially by Will Perrin in his capacity as a member of the Local Public Data Panel, after ‘a slightly experimental meeting‘ in April 2010. Its purpose back then was to continue that discussion. It is not affiliated to, or representative of, the Local Public Data Panel.
